Prof. (Ms.) Jayamanne is graduated from University of Sri Jayawardenepura in 1979 with a special Degree in Biology offering Fisheries as a special subject. She has also earned her MPhil degree in the field of Fisheries from University of Sri Jayawardenepura in 1991 for which she won a merit award from the National Science Foundation of Sri Lanka.
The Success Story of ICFA 2018
The 5th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture 2018 – (ICFA 2018) was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Indonesia, Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh as the Hosting Partners while Curtin University, Australia and Tra Vinh University, Vietnam became the Academic Partners of the Conference. Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, Sri Lanka was the supporting Ministry whereas National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA), AquaEx India 2018 and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau were the successful strategic partners of the Conference.

Inauguration Ceremony
The Conference was held on 23rd – 24th August 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. ICFA 2018 was organized under the theme “Facing the Global Fisheries and Aquaculture Challenges” and was chaired by Professor S. C. Jayamanne, Uwa Wellassa University, Sri Lanka
The opening remarks of ICFA 2018 were made by Conference Chair Professor S. C. Jayamanne, Uwa Wellassa University, Sri Lanka together with Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Managing Director, The International Institute of Knowledge Management).

Dr Albert G.J. Tacon is Technical Director of Aquatic Farms Ltd in Hawaii, and works as an international aquaculture consultant, specializing in aquatic feeds and nutrition. After obtaining his PhD in fish nutrition at University College (University of Wales, UK – 1978).

Keynote Forum
Keynote forum was one of the most significant moments during the Conference and it was enlightened by the Keynote speech by Dr. Albert G.J. Tacon Ph.D. (Technical Director – Aquatic Farms Ltd, USA)”. The guest speech was delivered by Dr.Rohana Subasinghe (Ph.D.) (Honorary Life Member of the World Aquaculture Society, President-Elect of the World Aquaculture Society – Asia Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC), Retired Chief of FAO Aquaculture Service, Managing Director, Future Fish, Sri Lanka)”. Plenary Speeches were done by Prof. Deepthi Wickramasinghe (University of Colombo, Sri Lanka) and Prof. Dr. K. Marimuthu (Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, and AIMST University, Malaysia).
Special Features of the Conference
SHRIMP INDUSTRY DIALOGUE – “Feeds, Feeding and Feed Management”
Shrimp Industry Dialogue was one of the rare opportunities to share experiences and issues with one of the world leaders in aqua feeds, Dr. Albert Tacon. During the session, Dr. Tacon made an interesting presentation on the “Global status of the feeds, feeding and feed management in the shrimp industry”. The forum was open for questions from the shrimp industry personnel, mainly focusing the feeds, feeding and feed management.
Workshop on “Aquafeed Industry in Sri Lanka; Past, Present and Future ”
A workshop to discuss the aquafeeds industry in Sri Lanka was arranged on the 25th August, following the conclusion of the ICFA 2018. Dr. Albert Tacon was the key person leading the discussions during the workshop. This was a valuable opportunity to address “Aquafeed Industry in Sri Lanka; Past, Present, and Future”. The workshop was an open forum for dialogue and discussion between the private sector, state officials, academia and other interested parties to discuss on the past, review the present and propose the future of the national shrimp industry in Sri Lanka. The workshop aimed to bring about a consensus build vision on the future of the aquafeeds industry in Sri Lanka

Participants
ICFA 2018 provided great platform for researchers, academia, the industry professionals, government officials and other professional bodies from across the globe to share their research findings with one another and to discuss their ideas in relation to the field Public Health. The conference provided a refreshing experience for all, especially for the young researchers who had the opportunity to share their research findings on an international platform. The conference was enlightened by international researchers representing following Nations.

All accepted abstracts for 5th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture 2018 will be published in the conference abstract book with an associated ISBN (978-955-3605-06-1). All full papers will be reviewed through a double-blind reviewing process and published electronically with an ISSN (2386 – 1282) in the proceedings with a DOI Number (DOI prefix: 10.17501).
