The Success Story of the 5th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture (ICFA 2018)

The 5th International Conference on Fisheries and Aquaculture 2018 – (ICFA 2018) was organized by The International Institute of Knowledge Management (TIIKM), Sri Lanka in collaboration with Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang, Indonesia, Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh as the Hosting Partners while Curtin University, Australia and Tra Vinh University, Vietnam became the Academic Partners of the Conference. Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development, Sri Lanka was the supporting Ministry whereas National Aquaculture Development Authority (NAQDA), AquaEx India 2018 and Sri Lanka Convention Bureau were the successful strategic partners of the Conference.

Inauguration Ceremony

The Conference was held on 23rd – 24th August 2018 in Colombo, Sri Lanka. ICFA 2018 was organized under the theme Facing the Global Fisheries and Aquaculture Challenges” and was chaired by Professor S. C. Jayamanne, Uwa Wellassa University, Sri Lanka.
The opening remarks of ICFA 2018 were made by Conference Chair Professor S. C. Jayamanne, Uwa Wellassa University, Sri Lanka together with Mr. Isanka P. Gamage (Managing Director, The International Institute of Knowledge Management).

Keynote Forum

Keynote forum was one of the most significant moments during the Conference and it was enlightened by the Keynote speech by Dr. Albert G.J. Tacon Ph.D. (Technical Director – Aquatic Farms Ltd, USA)”. The guest speech was delivered by Dr.Rohana Subasinghe (Ph.D.) (Honorary Life Member of the World Aquaculture Society, President-Elect of the World Aquaculture Society – Asia Pacific Chapter (WAS-APC), Retired Chief of FAO Aquaculture Service, Managing Director, Future Fish, Sri Lanka)”. Plenary Speeches were done by Prof. Deepthi Wickramasinghe (University of Colombo, Sri Lanka) and Prof. Dr. K. Marimuthu (Department of Biotechnology, Faculty of Applied Sciences, and AIMST University, Malaysia).
