Prof. Bruce Glavovic

Biography
Prof. Bruce Glavovic is the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Ocean & Coastal Management, the leading academic journal on ocean and coastal management and governance. He is Senior Editor for the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Natural Hazard Science, Associate Editor of the Oxford Encyclopedia on Natural Hazard Governance, and on the Editorial Boards of Resources: Natural Resources and Management, Journal of Extreme Events, Anthropocene Coasts, and the Australasian Journal of Disaster and Trauma Studies. He has published over 100 journal articles, book chapters and conference papers, authored over 100 consulting reports and government publications, and co-edited five books. He has been a member of many expert committees, advisory groups, review panels and conference organising / steering committees on matters relating to coastal management, natural hazards and climate change, including recently Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of Future Earth Coasts. He has been a Coordinating Lead Author of the IPPC’s Special Report on the Oceans and Cryosphere in a Changing Climate and Lead Author of IPCC’s 6th Working Group II Assessment Report. He has presented over 20 keynote or plenary conference addresses.

Biography
Dr. Waldo Nuez leads the R&D program on Aquaculture Nutrition and Health within the Aquaculture BU of Adisseo. Waldo owns a research background in aquatic nutrition and health supported by more than 14 years of experience. He combines academic experience as lecturer at James Cook University (Australia) with worldwide industry experience under different technical roles in the aquafeed business. His research aims to understand how production strategies and environmental stressors impact growth efficiency and health, and to develop sustainable and cost-effective feeding strategies accordingly. He also services the Aqua Nutrition and Health Platforms by Adisseo and works alongside with customers to address specific production issues and optimize the application of solutions. Waldo holds a Degree in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Zaragoza (Spain), a MSc in Animal Nutrition from the University of Saskatchewan (Canada), and a PhD in Aquaculture Nutrition from the University of Tasmania (Australia). He has also authored scientific publications mainly on the evaluation of new alternative ingredients and nutritional physiology.

Biography
Ulrike Guelich is Assistant Professor at the School of Entrepreneurship and Management at Bangkok University in Thailand. She is Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) Thailand team leader. She holds a PhD in Entrepreneurship and MBAs from the University of Maryland, USA and from Zurich, Switzerland. Dr Ulrike Guelich contributed to several national and international reports on entrepreneurial activities, attitudes and aspirations, such as for GEM, ILO, UNDP and UNESCAP. Her 25 years of entrepreneurship experience include years as business owner in a manufacturing family business in the fourth generation and leading an IT start-up as supplier to the automotive industry. Ulrike’s research interests revolve around women entrepreneurship, the use of entrepreneurial networks and their influence on innovation in entrepreneurial activities.

Title: “Community-based management in the coastal fisheries of Sri Lanka”
Biography
Professor Upali S. Amarasinghe’s research career commenced in 1980 when he started research on limnology of major perennial reservoirs of Sri Lanka. His research was aimed at developing effective management strategies for the fisheries in reservoirs of Sri Lanka. So far, he has published over 160 research papers, edited 09 monographs and presented over 80 scientific communications in international and national conferences. He is an Associate Editor of Asian Fisheries Science and Honorary Editor of Sri Lanka Journal of Aquatic Sciences. He also served as a member of editorial board of the Journal of National Science Foundation.
In July 2010, he was awarded Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) by Bangor University, U.K. for his research on the management of tropical small-scale fisheries. In November 2019, he was awarded an honorary D.Sc. by the University of Ruhuna in consideration of his knowledge and distinguished contribution rendered to the field of fisheries biology.
He was a member of the working party of experts on inland fisheries in the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Commission of Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. He also served as an international consultant to the IDRC, Canada, FAO and UNIDO. Professor Amarasinghe also served as a consultant to the Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asian-Pacific (NACA) in Bangkok and to the ICEIDA, Iceland.
His research findings have a high positive impact on inland fisheries of Sri Lanka, and they were adopted by the government for defining management strategies. Several inland fisheries regulations in Sri Lanka have been formulated and implemented, based on his research findings.
So far, he has trained 42 postgraduates, including 11 Ph.D. degrees, 17 M.Phil. degrees and 14 M.Sc. degrees. Presently 05 students are reading for postgraduate degrees in the Universities of Kelaniya, Wayamba and Ruhuna under his supervision.
He was the recipient of several national and international awards for his research. He was awarded the Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) prize for the best young scientist in biology in 1993 for his research on inland fisheries. In 2008, Committee of Vice Chancellors and Directors (CVCD) excellence award for the most outstanding scientist in biological sciences was awarded to him. SLAAS awarded him the GRC Award in 2009 for the most outstanding scientist in biological sciences. He received several Presidential awards for the authorship of scientific papers figuring in Science Citation Index. He was a visiting academic at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London in 2000. He was also an academic visitor in the Netherlands Institute of Ecology in 2007. He is a Chartered Biologist of the Institute of Biology of Sri Lanka and a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences of Sri Lanka.
According to Google Scholar Citations, Professor Amarasinghe h-index is 27 and upto now, there are over 2600 citations of his research. The i10-index of Professor Amarasinghe is 71, the highest among Sri Lankan fisheries scientists.

Dr. Lauren Jescovitch

Biography
Lauren Jescovitch, Ph.D, works with MSU Extension and Michigan Sea Grant to serve as an educator in western Upper Peninsula. Jescovitch divides her time between the Hancock Extension office and the Great Lakes Research Center at Michigan Technological University, working to apply science-based knowledge to address Great Lakes issues. Her focus areas include aquaculture, commercial fisheries, and Tribal partnerships. Starting in October 2019, Jescovitch has dedicated her time in areas such as forming Tribal partnerships, fish producer (aquaculture and commercial) education, and the Great Lakes Aquaculture Collaborative.
