Dr. Albert G.J. Tacon

Speech Title: “Recent Trends in Global Aquaculture and Aquafeed Production”

Dr. Albert G.J. Tacon is Technical Director of Aquatic Farms Ltd in Hawaii, and works as an international aquaculture consultant, specializing in aquatic feeds and nutrition. After obtaining his PhD in fish nutrition at University College (University of Wales, UK – 1978) he spent eight years within the UK as a university lecturer and researcher in applied fish nutrition at the University of Aston in Birmingham and at the Institute of Aquaculture in Stirling.

He has 40 years of professional experience in aquaculture research and development, with a specialty focus on aquatic feeds and nutrition, and increasing the contribution of aquaculture to global food security and poverty alleviation, including 14 years of in-house experience with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) working within National, Regional, and Inter-regional Aquaculture Development Projects, and within the Regular Program of FAO in Rome, Italy;

44 in-country work experiences with FAO & other agencies in aquaculture and aquaculture nutrition related activities, including: Africa – Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Tunisia; Americas – Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, USA, Venezuela; Asia/Oceania – American Samoa, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Nepal, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam; Europe – Belgium, Cyprus, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, UK, Yugoslavia; and

228 aquaculture related publications and one patent on aquaculture technology, including scientific research publications, review publications, FAO technical papers and field documents, books, book chapters and magazine articles, with a focus on aquatic feeds and feeding, aquaculture development trends, the nutritional value of aquatic food products, and aquaculture aspects related to food security and poverty alleviation.

Prof. Dr. Ir Rokhmin Dahuri, Professor in Coastal and Ocean Management, obtained his Ph.D. in Coastal and Marine Resource Management, School for Resources and Environmental Studies, Delhousie University, Halivax, Nova Scotia, Canada In 1991. He is also President of Indonesia Aquaculture Society; Member of International Scientific Advisory Board of Center for Coastal and Ocean Development, University of Bremen, Germany; Chairman of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle for Maritime Affairs and He has been Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Republic of Indonesia (2001 – 2004). His expertise encompasses the field of Marine and Maritime Affairs, Aquaculture Management, Environment and Natural Resources Management. He writes many books and papers in the field of Coastal and Ocean Management, Economy, Science, and Technology, and Education published by both Indonesia and International Journals. Both government and private agencies have commissioned him as consultant on assessment and development of Marine and Maritime Sector.

Speech Title: “An overview of aquaculture development in Vietnam”

Dr. Tri got a B.Sc degree in Aquaculture at Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh city, Viet Nam in 1994. Four years later, he got a Master degree at the same major at Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand with a scholarship from Danish government. In 2003, he got a Ph.D scholarship from Ministry of Education and Training, Viet Nam to pursue his program at Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture, Auburn University, Alabama, USA. He got a Ph.D degree majored in Aquatic animal nutrition in 2007. Currently he is the Dean of Faculty of Fisheries, Nong Lam University of Ho Chi Minh city, VietNam. His research area focuses on aquatic animal nutrition and aquaculture technique.


Dr. Yudha Trinoegraha Adiputra 

Speech Title: “Recent Technology on Spiny Lobster Mariculture”

Dr. Yudha Trinoegraha Adiputra is working in the Department of Fisheries and Marine Science, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung, Indonesia. He graduated from Gadjah Mada University in Aquaculture (BSc) and Biotechnology (MSc). He finished doctoral dissertation focused on spiny lobster hormonal maturation and grow-out in Bogor Agricultural University. He has been developing spiny lobster culture technology, in particular lobster hatchery and grow-out that is easy and inexpensive to apply to farmers. Collaboration with industry and the young generation to accelerate the acquisition of spiny lobster culture technology in addition to regeneration for better management of spiny lobster is also his last purpose.

2001-2002 : Experimental white leg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) culture in PT. Central Pertiwi Bahari, Lampung, Indonesia.
Black tiger shrimp (Penaeus monodon) culture in PT.Ika Nusa Fishtama with University of Lampung.
2003-2004 : Society development of Lampungnese Ancient Village Program for freshwater fish culture with Lampung Province Government.
2012-2014 : Society development for white leg shrimp (L. vannamei) and milkfish (Chanos chanos) hatchery and grow-out in Pasir Sakti Village, East Lampung, Indonesia.
2016-2019 : Development spiny lobster (Panulirus homarus) hatchery system.
2020-2021 : Mariculture of puerulus and juvenile of spiny lobster with PT.Kreasi Bahari Mandiri.

Dr. Romi Novriadi

Speech Title: “The development of sustainable and functional feed for Shrimp production system”

Dr. Romi Novriadi is the the vice chairman of Indonesia Aquaculture Society for 2019 – 2024 and also Director for the World Aquaculture Society – Asian Pacific Chapter for 2019 – 2021. Dr. Romi Novriadi also as the senior researcher at the Directorate General of Aquaculture, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Republic of Indonesia. He has published more than 25 peer review research articles in the area of his expertise which include Aquaculture nutrition, aqua-feed formulation, Functional ingredients, Immunology, aquaculture technology and diseases management. In addition, his PhD’s Dissertation focus on ‘Evaluation of Advanced Soy Products in Diets Fed to Florida Pompano’ and master’s thesis on ‘A toolbox for Immune Parameters of Artemia’ provides beneficial information to the aquaculture industry.

Dr. Romi was awarded two scholarships, the VLIR-UOS scholarship to pursue his Master of Science in Aquaculture at Ghent University – Belgium and the Fulbright scholarship to pursue his Ph. D in Fisheries and Allied Aquaculture at the Auburn University, Alabama, USA. Currently, Dr. Romi focus on the development of intensive shrimp farming system, evaluation on the specific nutrient requirement for shrimp and marine fish, investigate novel ingredients and functional feed to enhance the growth and health status of shrimp and fish, and work together with farmers to develop sustainable shrimp production system guidelines. Dr. Romi also the founder of (super) intensive farming system for Litopenaeus vannamei cultured in the concrete tank.
